I’m somewhat somber about the death of Terri Schiavo. It’s sobering to see how courts can decide who has the right to live, and in this case who has the right to eat. It’s a step backwards in what we call a civilized society.
As Americans we’ve accepted media and societies’ attempt to dissect life [...]

…concerning the Schiavo case. He said, “The essence of civilization is that the strong have a duty to protect the weak,” Bush said. “In cases where there are serious doubts and questions, the presumption should be in favor of life.”

Caught The Motorcycle Diaries over the weekend in my state of convalesence. Man I really dug this movie big time. You could see the brilliance and the spark of compassion in Ernesto Che Guevara even in his early days. It also had a real good touch of humor.
The most powerful scene to me [...]

Some time ago, I read a blog about having an AM or an abundance mentality…Good stuff… Essentially recognizing the people in our lives who have served to spur us on, while making room for others.

“The Left mocks the Right. The Right knows it’s right. Two ugly traits. How far should we go to try to understand each other’s point of view? Maybe the distance grace covered on the cross is a clue.”

19 and fly

33 and handsome
What use to be
Eyes
Lit by fire
Backed with rage
Is simply now known to be
Perspective
But I digress
In the way I twitched
My cheek [...]

As Lent is a time for reflection…
I was thinking about the time Mayra and I got to meet Cornel West at a discussion and book signing in Harlem. A brilliant mind indeed. One of his former Princeton Seminary students had asked him a provocative question. That in the midst of his successes, best-selling [...]

Torn Between the “Dying to One’s Self” & “Buying TIVO”
I arise in the morning torn between the desire to improve the world and the desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.
